Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 in India: ₹31,920 is the number to wait for, and who should skip it
Gen 2 launched at ₹39,900 but sells for ₹31,920 on some listings. What Hindi support, the 8-hour battery and the recording light mean for an Indian buyer.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 launched in India at ₹39,900, yet recent listings show it far lower. A TechWeu buying guide from October 2026 works out which price makes sense, and where the glasses fall short.
If you have been eyeing a pair of Ray-Ban Meta glasses and the ₹39,900 launch price put you off, the more useful question is what you should actually pay. TechWeu's October 2026 buying guide goes through exactly that, and its answer is fairly clear: the Gen 2 is a sensible purchase around ₹32,000, and a harder sell at full price.
The numbers first. Meta announced the Gen 2 in India on 1 December 2025 from ₹39,900. The guide found the Wayfarer in Matte Black at ₹31,920 on Amazon.in, the Shiny Cosmic Blue version at ₹36,560, and says the writer paid about ₹34,000 on a Flipkart deal. A struck-through ₹45,700 on some listings is the seller's printed price, and the guide refuses to count it as a saving. The older Gen 1 Wayfarer sits near ₹24,075, roughly ₹7,800 below the cheapest Gen 2.
For that gap you get a 12MP ultra-wide camera with 3K video, and Meta says up to 8 hours of battery on moderate use. The charging case adds up to 48 hours, and fast charging reaches 50 percent in 20 minutes. Hyperlapse and slow motion are promised in later updates, so do not count them in today's feature list.
The India-specific part is language. Meta says Meta AI works in full Hindi for questions, photo and video capture, media control and replying to messages. That matters if you would mostly talk to the glasses in Hindi while walking or riding. Scan-and-pay by UPI is still described as coming soon and needs a WhatsApp-linked bank account, so the guide says plainly not to buy for payments.
There are real limits. The lenses have no display, so these are a camera, speakers and an assistant, not augmented-reality glasses. A small white LED lights up when you record, and Meta says it cannot be turned off. The Dutch data protection authority has warned the light may not be noticeable enough, and a consumer group said it can be covered with a sticker. The guide advises taking them off in changing rooms, confidential offices and anywhere filming is banned, and telling people when you film them.
So who should buy? Someone who will really use first-person video, hands-free calls and Hindi voice commands, and who can get a Gen 2 near ₹32,000. If you mostly want hands-free photos and calls, the cheaper Gen 1 covers it. Skip both if the recording light bothers you, if you want information shown in the lens, or if the same money would be better spent on a phone or smartwatch. Check the seller and return policy on marketplace listings before you order.
On Startbook, the Ray-Ban Meta Headliner Gen 2 is tracked at ₹31,920 against a ₹39,900 list price, with the offer running to 8 November. The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 Diwali offer is at the same ₹31,920, while the Wayfarer Gen 2 in Shiny Black is listed at the full ₹39,900.
