Dreame L50s Pro Ultra in India: four weeks with a premium robot vacuum, and the cheaper pick
Smartprix spent four weeks with the Dreame L50s Pro Ultra: tangle-free brush and strong pet features, but pricey upkeep and glitches. Who should buy and who should save money.

Robot vacuums at this price promise you can forget about the floor. Smartprix lived with the Dreame L50s Pro Ultra for about four weeks and came away impressed on hair and thresholds, less so on software quirks and running costs. Here is what that means for an Indian home.
Anyone who has watched a cheap robot vacuum choke on long hair knows why people pay more for the premium models. The question Smartprix set out to answer with the Dreame L50s Pro Ultra is whether the extra money buys a machine you can actually ignore.
The reviewer's answer is mostly yes. The headline fix is the HyperStream DuoBrush, a liftable rubber brush paired with a second brush that Dreame claims never tangles. Over several weeks the reviewer saw no tangling at all, which is the feature pet owners and long-haired households care about most. Suction is up to 30,000Pa from 19,000Pa on last year's L40 Ultra AE, but the real-world gain was described as only slightly better, so do not buy it for suction alone.
Thresholds, obstacles and carpets
The robot recognises 220 object types, up from 120, using LiDAR, a camera and 3D structured light. It climbs thresholds up to 40mm according to the review, though Dreame's spec sheet lists 4cm for a double-layer step, which is useful in older Indian flats with raised door frames. It still gets confused in tight corners and around reflective or chrome furniture legs, and it once tangled in loose extension cords. Carpet handling has four modes, but it missed thin doormats and medium-high pile rugs are taller than its 10.5mm mop lift.
Battery, mop and upkeep
The 5,200mAh battery is unchanged. A 44-minute max-suction run used 37 percent and a 55-minute mop run used about 43 percent, which the reviewer turns into roughly 110 to 120 minutes of cleaning. A full charge takes just under three hours. The dock hot-washes mop pads, but the 100°C setting is off by default and the reviewer could not verify the temperature. After about 8 to 10 square metres of mopping, a manual pad wash was needed to avoid water marks, and proprietary cleaning solution is expensive.
Pet features sit in their own section of the Dreamehome app, including monitoring and photo capture, and the reviewer rates them the best in the range. The app also supports Matter and voice control through Google Home, Alexa and Siri. Switching the camera off weakens obstacle avoidance, and moving the dock means remapping. The robot woke up unprompted at least five times in four weeks.
Who should buy, who should save
Buy it if you have pets that shed, thresholds to cross, or a Matter-based smart home. Skip it if you already own an L40 Ultra AE or are watching the budget. At review time the L50s Pro Ultra cost Rs 79,999, and for buyers who want most of the features for less the reviewer points to the Dreame L50 Ultra CE, which he says offers about 80 percent of the features for roughly Rs 15,000 less. Startbook lists the L50s Pro Ultra at Rs 69,999 and the L50 Ultra CE at Rs 53,999 on Dreame's India store, so check live prices first.
