ASUS Zenbook DUO (2026): is a two-screen laptop worth it?
Two 14-inch OLED screens, a detachable keyboard and surprisingly long battery life. Who actually needs it.
Published 24 Oct 2026
You juggle documents, chats and a video call at once, and one laptop screen never feels like enough. The Zenbook DUO answers that with a second screen built in, and reviewers say it works. Whether it is worth the money depends on how you work.
Imagine your day: a document on one side, a chat window on the other, and notes you do not want to hide. Carrying a separate monitor is awkward, and a single laptop screen gets crowded. The ASUS Zenbook DUO puts two full 14-inch OLED screens in one laptop, and Engadget's February 2026 review scored it 90 out of 100 and said two screens really are better than one. The notes below follow that review, and the questions buyers ask most.
What exactly is it?
A laptop with two OLED screens, each 2880 by 1800 pixels at 144Hz, with 70 percent thinner borders than the previous model. The keyboard detaches and can sit anywhere, and a new hinge reduces the gap between the screens so they can lie flat. It weighs about 1.65 kg, and the reviewer notes it is about 5 percent smaller than the first generation.
How does the keyboard work?
It attaches magnetically and charges through contacts below the lower screen, so the reviewer never had to charge it separately. A backup USB-C port is built in. The lower screen can act as a touch keyboard and touchpad, or show widgets.
Does the second screen kill the battery?
Less than you would fear. The battery is 99Wh, up from 75Wh. With one screen the reviewer measured about 18 and a half hours in an office-work test, and with both screens on about 14 hours. That is long for any 14-inch laptop.
How fast is it?
Fast enough for office work and light games, not a gaming machine. The review unit's chip was limited to 45 watts, and Elden Ring on high settings ran at 55 to 60 frames a second at 1920 by 1200. Note that the review tested a top Intel Core Ultra X9 model; check the processor in the specific listing you buy.
What are the drawbacks?
- The price, which is the main complaint.
- No SD card slot.
- It costs more than a similar single-screen laptop, though less than an ultraportable plus a good portable monitor.
Who should buy it?
- People who regularly use two windows at once: editors, analysts, students, people who study with notes beside the lecture.
- Anyone who travels and wants a second screen without a second device.
- If you rarely need more screen space, a single-screen OLED laptop such as the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED costs noticeably less at the prices we list today.
